Guest Post – Cruelty Free Fall Make Up Trends

3 Nov

Guest post is from Melisser over at Cruelty Free Face.  Well seasoned make-up artist whose work has appeared in Vanity Fair, People, GQ, Rolling Stone and on TLC’s “What Not to Wear”. When her love of animals prompted her to go Vegan, her make-up kit soon followed. She now Vlogs about cruelty-free products and offers amazing beauty tips.

Melisser was kind enough to offer up some cruelty-free make-up suggestions for fall.

OCC Lip Tar

OCC Lip Tar in Anime

Many people are unaware that not all makeup is animal friendly. From animal testing to animal based ingredients put in everything from mascara to lipstick, it can be difficult to navigate what’s truly animal cruelty free. Luckily, more and more lines are talking about their policies and listing ingredients to take out some of the guess work. Another option is my site Cruelty Free Face where I let you know not only what isn’t tested on animals, but what doesn’t have nasty animal bits inside it. After all, harming animals is never beautiful!

Bright Lips – While many lipsticks have carmine, a beetle laden pigment in them, you can get bold lips without the bugs. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, or OCC has you covered with their Lip Tars. NSFW is the perfect red, while Anime has you hot pink lovers covered, and those of you ready for trendy purple lips can try Plum. Not only do they have excellent products, but OCC is 100% vegan and cruelty free!

Bold Brows – When you want a defined brow without going overboard, check out the Brow Tech To Go by Smashbox Cosmetics. One side is the perfectly angled soft pencil, while the other side has a clear gel to seal the deal. It’s easy to apply and builds up nicely, if you really want to make a statement.

Eyeliner – Fall is a fabulous time to layer the liner and go bold with your eyes. For a thick cat eye, ELF Waterproof Liner has you covered at only $3! When you want the smudgy grunge look, go for something creamier like Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero.

Thank you so much for all of your tips, Melisser!
